Haven 1.9
Between the ascension & the descent lies the illusion of floating, a sense of freedom that happens only when allowing oneself to dance with gravity.
I always loved being in the air. The sensation of floating once you reach the height is quite exhilarating and only lasts for a fraction of a second. It’s a unique experience you can only fully appreciate once you mastered the physical movement enough to not only think about the technique of it. I still remember the first time I became conscious of that feeling when doing acrobatics as a young gymnast. I realized how lucky I was to taste what it felt like to fly. Jumping brings a similar experience. It is playing with gravity, a glimpse of transcendance I deeply enjoy.
About the Haven collection
As a dance performer, my body is my primary medium of expression. It is also my refuge. Connecting with the world around me & to places within myself is what my journey is about. It’s a tale about nature, patience, magic seeking & presence.
And as an artist, one of my main purposes is to touch, connect with and inspire other human beings.
For many years I made my body a vessel for other creators, mainly choreographers. I was trying to find my voice and my creative output in someone else’s piece, trying to find my way in someone else’s universe. As much as I enjoyed these experiences, I discovered through my years of collaboration with visual artist Eric Paré that I could also want to be the leader of my own artistic expression. Dance photography has been part of our light painting journey since the beginning, in 2014.
