Haven 1.2
Simplicity & gentleness. Giant sunset & infinity.
About this picture
This is by far one of my favorite places on earth. Uyuni’s Salt Flats are a dream come true for any human being appreciating nature’s beauty. Giant mirror reflecting the sky, it’s hard for the mind to understand what is being witnessed. At sunset, this location is by far the best environment to dance with a giant sun. Over the past 7 years we travelled to Uyuni 3 times, each time improving our technique, mastery and preparation. Over the years I got better at facing the cold temperature, the effect of the high altitude on my body, the crusty salt that hurt my feet… I worked weeks in advance on my body and mind preparation in order to optimize the creative opportunities that we would have in that amazing location. In retrospect, all these challenges make the pieces created more important and valuable to me, as they also represent the growth and the learnings we’ve made along the way of our artistic journey.
About the Haven collection
As a dance performer, my body is my primary medium of expression. It is also my refuge. Connecting with the world around me & to places within myself is what my journey is about. It’s a tale about nature, patience, magic seeking & presence.
And as an artist, one of my main purposes is to touch, connect with and inspire other human beings.
For many years I made my body a vessel for other creators, mainly choreographers. I was trying to find my voice and my creative output in someone else’s piece, trying to find my way in someone else’s universe. As much as I enjoyed these experiences, I discovered through my years of collaboration with visual artist Eric Paré that I could also want to be the leader of my own artistic expression. Dance photography has been part of our light painting journey since the beginning, in 2014.
